Meika-chan Anime Community App
Project Overview
This mobile platform was designed as an all-in-one social and lifestyle hub for anime enthusiasts to connect online and explore real-world fandom experiences.
The Challenge
Anime culture encompasses diverse interests, from tracking series and writing reviews to attending live conventions and visiting pop-up cafes. The challenge was to organize these content-heavy, multi-layered community features into an engaging mobile interface without overwhelming the user or feeling cluttered.
My Role
My role as a Product Designer included end-to-end UI/UX design, user journey mapping, design system creation, interactive mapping interfaces, gamification architecture, and mobile prototyping.
The Solution
I designed a modular interface that seamlessly connects digital engagement with offline discovery. The experience balances social discussions, episode tracking, and event discovery by using clear navigation tabs, card-based feeds, and gamified reward systems.
Key Features
Interactive discovery map for anime conventions, pop-up stores, and collab cafés
Personal anime watchlist and episode progress tracking
Community blog feeds, episode ratings, and user reviews
Gamified reward system with XP levels, community points, and animated badges
Contributor leaderboards and friend activity tracking
Dark/light visual styling tailored to modern anime aesthetics
Custom profile customization and social engagement tools
Design Focus
The visual direction embraces anime culture through vibrant accents, expressive badge art, and dynamic typography while preserving clean white space and ergonomic navigation across content-dense screens.
Outcome
The result is a unified, immersive community platform that elevates how anime fans track their media, build connections, and discover local fandom events.
